Abstract

Abstract A novel selenidostannate [VII(dien)2]2[Sn2Se6] (1, dien\xa0=\xa0diethylenetriamine) was solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. 1 contains [VII(dien)2]2+ complex cations and dimeric [Sn2Se6]4- anion based on two tetrahedral [SnSe4] sharing a common edge, which provides the first example of the chalcogenidostannates directed by low-valent vanadium(II) complex as structure-directing agents (SDAs). 1 is a wide-band-gap semiconductor with absorption edge of 2.11\xa0eV which shows photocurrent response properties. its magnetic properties and density functional theory calculation were also investigated.
