Wetting and interfacial behaviour in the TiB2-NiCrBSiC system
Abstract
Abstract The wetting and interfacial behaviour in the TiB 2 -NiCrBSiC system have been investigated in this study. Wetting tests of the TiB 2 solid ceramic sample by the NiCrBSiC self-fluxing alloy were carried out by means of the sessile drop technique in a vacuum environment at 1100 °C. The NiCrBSiC alloy demonstrated good wetting with TiB 2 ( θ  = 34°). Three distinct processes in the TiB 2 -NiCrBSiC system were revealed: (1) the ceramic substrate dissolution into Ni-based alloy, (2) active chemical interaction between initial components of NiCrBSiC alloy as well as (3) the interaction between components of ceramic substrate and melted alloy. The wetting behaviour and the interfacial reactions between ceramic substrate and alloy components are discussed.
