Dielectric and microwave reflection properties of M-phase LNT (Li-Nb-Ti-O) solid solutions in X-band frequency range

 
 
 

Abstract


Abstract The present paper reports the dielectric and microwave reflection properties of the M-phase Li 1+x Nb 1-x Ti x O 3 (x\u202f=\u202f0.06, 0.10, 0.14, 0.18) solid solutions synthesized by solid state reaction method in the X-band (8.2\u202fGHz–12.4\u202fGHz) frequency range. The values of relative permittivity were obtained between 29.86 and 42.83 while loss tangent ranged between 0.034 and 0.091 with change in composition for X-band. Dielectric relaxation behaviour was not observed for all the studied samples in X-band. Composition with x\u202f=\u202f0.14 has shown the reflection peak of\xa0−0.14782\u202fdB (96.65% reflection) at sample thickness of 2.3\u202fmm and frequency of 9.964\u202fGHz. Compositions x\u202f=\u202f0.14 (sample thickness\u202f=\u202f2.3\u202fmm) and x\u202f=\u202f0.18 (sample thickness\u202f=\u202f2.4\u202fmm) show more than 90% reflection in entire X-band frequency range and are suitable candidates for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) shielding materials or microwave reflectors.
