Binder-free quaternary Ni–Fe–W–Mo alloy as a highly efficient electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction

Abstract

Abstract Constructing highly efficient electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is essential for the development of electrocatalytic water splitting. Herein, a binder-free and quaternary Ni–Fe–W–Mo alloy nanostructure was constructed by the electrodeposition strategy, and the electrocatalytic performances at the room and high temperatures (80\xa0°C) were also investigated in the alkaline electrolyte. Owing to the synergistic effect of alloying and the self-supportive configuration, the binder-free Ni–Fe–W–Mo alloy showed the small overpotential and superior stability for OER at the room and high temperatures. This work may provide a new chance for constructing efficient OER electrocatalysts for energy conversion applications.
