Abstract


Abstract In a previous manuscript, the Stockwell transform (ST) and Shannon energy (SSE) methods were presented as a new proposal to identify the corrosion type at room temperature. The present manuscript aim is demonstrating the effectiveness of the ST and SSE methods for evaluating the corrosion type and rate through Electrochemical Noise technique at different temperatures. The study is carried out using 6061-T6 aluminum exposed to 3.5 % N a C l solution at two different temperatures 22 o C and 75 o C . The ST performance is evaluated and compared with other methods as the statistical method (SM), the Power Spectral Density (PSD) (computed by the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM)), and the Wavelet Transform (WT). The experimental results showed that the ST is the most robust of the methods analyzed. The main contribution of the manuscript is to demonstrate that the ST and Shannon Energy methods are robust for the corrosion evaluation no matter the medium temperature.
