Abstract

Abstract Based on the ligand 2,2 -bipyridine-5,5 -dicarboxylic acid (H2bpdc), a luminescent Eu-MOF was successfully synthesized under solvothermal conditions, namely, [Eu(bpdc)1.5(H2O)2]n (1). The experimental explorations showed that compound 1 could not only detect Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions with high selectivity and recyclability, but also serve as an excellent selective sensing material for PO43− ion among some anions. Surprisingly, as an outstanding example of Ln-MOFs with fluorescence response to dichloromethane in aqueous solution, compound 1 could also behave as a functional probe with high sensitivity, selectivity, and recyclability. Meanwhile, the possible distinguishing mechanisms of compound 1 for above ions and CH2Cl2 molecule were further speculated.
