Abstract

Abstract Up-conversion (UC) fluorescence process can convert low-energy radiation into high-energy radiation, which is an effective way to obtain ultraviolet C (UVC) laser. Compared with crystals, glass can be produced in a large volume and drawn into optical fibers, which has irreplaceable merits as a laser medium. Here, we successfully synthesized an efficient UVC UC glassy phosphor where UVC light can be detected by UV detector as well as solar blind camera equipped a 240-280 nm band-pass filter when excited by a 450 nm laser. We believe that UVC UC glassy phosphor can be used as an ideal gain medium for UVC fiber lasers.
