Synthesis, Structure and Electric Transport Properties of Sr3WCoO7 and Sr3WNiO7
Abstract
Abstract The Ruddlesden-Popper type phases, which possess the general composition An+1BnO3n+1, are a well known class of materials exhibiting interesting structural and electric transport properties. In the present study two new phases in this class of materials with the composition Sr3WCoO7 and Sr3WNiO7 have been prepared in the solid state by standard ceramic method. X-ray diffraction studies show that these phases crystallize in tetragonal unit cell in the space group I4/mmm. Their structural parameters have been calculated. Unit cell structure of Sr3WCoO7 has also been drawn with the programme ‘Powder2.3’. The electrical resistivity in the temperature range 10-300 K shows that temperature co-efficient of resistivity is negative, which suggests that both the phases are insulator in nature. Difference in magnitude of the resistivity is attributed to electronic structure of Co and Ni ions.
