Abstract

Abstract Industrial applications involving dissimilar alloys (AA4018 -AA8011) joined by friction stir welding have improved the mechanical strength of the welded joint. This work investigated the effect of heat addition on the mechanical properties of a dissimilar aluminum alloy welded joint. The heat treatment hardening effect revolution is found in aluminum alloys, which helps in producing friction heat so that the mechanical strength of the joint can increase. Maximum tensile strength could be obtained is also determined by SEM image for welding joint improvement. Micro hardness was measured in different areas of welded joints for observing its mechanical properties.
