Optimization of solid particle erosion behaviour of waste marble dust filled glass fiber polymer composite using Taguchi approach
Abstract
Abstract This experimental study aims to examine solid particle erosion performance of hybrid composite developed by introducing waste marble dust particle to glass fiber and epoxy resin in the weight fraction of 0 wt%, 10 wt%.,20 wt%. and 30 wt%. Erosion test involved different contents of waste marble dust-filled hybrid glass–epoxy composites under different conditions of impact velocity, impingement angles, erodent sizes, and environment temperature. For the experimental design, L16 Taguchi’s orthogonal array (OA) approach was exercised, and combined ideal parameters causing the minimal erosion rate in the composites were evaluated. ANOVA analysis shows that the major contribution in erosion wear rate was impact velocity compare to other control parameters.
