A review on split injection performances in DI diesel engine with different injection strategies and varying EGR using biodiesel as fuel

Abstract

Abstract The main objective of this investigation is to find the effect of split injection for reducing emissions without affecting engine performances. Many researches were conducted on single cylinder diesel engine with variable injection strategies. Due to premixed combustion and attainment of homogeneous mixture for some fuel at low temperature in split injection, low NOx emissions were shown. Varying pilot injection strategies like injection proportion, injection timing, injection pressure, etc. and also varying EGR percentage and biodiesel blends could improve the performances in diesel engine and also reduce engine emissions. Current review paper briefly explains the appropriate split injection strategy for reducing emissions without compensating Brake Thermal Efficiency.
