Abstract


Abstract Vehicles of recent times have developed trends to reduce pollution, specific fuel consumption, vehicle weight, noise and to improve aerodynamic profiles and stability of vehicles. The vehicle engine performance and emission are projected to be dependent on physical parameters like the diameter of cylinder, stroke length, fuel supply, combustion methods and speed and compression ratio. This paper aims to examine and interpret the existing engine performance characteristics and to create a new model engine. In this research work, existing 120 single cylinder, 4-stroke petrol bike engine was investigated based on the following data like Stroke length (L), Bore (B), Compression ratio (Cr), Cubic centimeter (Cc), Brake horse power (BHP) and Torque (T). In this research, with respect to stroke length compare the design and performance parameters. Stroke length of the engine increase while increasing the engine bore. The engine stroke length is directly proportional to the maximum brake horse power and torque. Compression ratio slightly decrease while increasing the engine stoke length. The result indicates resemblance between the prevailing vehicles and give a new idea to design a new model single cylinder 4-stroke petrol engine with high performance and low emission condition.
