Experimental examination of CI engine fueled with various blends of diesel-apricot oil at different engine operating conditions
Abstract
Abstract In the present work, an experimental examination is carried out in a naturally aspirated single cylinder 4-stroke direct injection water cooled compression ignition engine to test the performance of various diesel-apricot kernel biodiesel blends. The objective of the work is to choose the best biodiesel blend proportion that replace pure diesel fuel in CI engine. The selection of such blend is based on the performance and exhaust gases evaluation of the CI engine. The indices considered for the performance evaluation of engine are brake thermal efficiency (BTE) and brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) whereas carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) parameters are examined under tail pipe emissions. The results shown that biodiesel blend of 20% volume proportion of apricot oil in diesel exhibited better performance and emission attributes as compared to other blend proportions.
