Phase formation and spectroscopy analysis of doped bismuth ferrite nanoparticles

Abstract

Abstract Nanoparticles of pure BiFeO3 (BFO) and Bi0.85Sm0.15Fe1-xCrxO3 (BSFCO-5), (X = 0.05) have been synthesized utilizing the sol–gel method. The influence of co-doping on the structural properties of BSFCO nanoparticles has been studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) findings indicate the structural phase transformation from a rhombohedral phase for pure BFO sample to the orthorhombic phase for x = 0.05. UV–Visible spectroscopy has been utilized to determine diffuse reflectance to measure the energy bandgap (Eg). The enhanced properties of co-doped nanoparticles might be attributable to lattice distortion.
