Preparation and properties of some ion selective membranes: A review
Abstract
Abstract Rapid and accurate quantification of solute species is of major importance in environmental science, medicine, agriculture, chemical and biological research as well as various manufacturing industries. The hazardous nature of some solutes: heavy metal cations and anions, towards flora and fauna, is of such significance that the development of new materials with improved affinity for such species, under diverse conditions, is of major importance. Mobility and selectivity in different media is also of major significance in the development of smart technologies such as drug delivery vehicles. However, realization of such materials requires a clear and in-depth understanding of previous studies in this area. Therefore, in this review, the merits and solute immobilization mechanisms of some ion selective membranes are discussed.
