Abstract

Abstract Pressure tube type heavy water reactors (PT-HWRs) with Natural Uranium (NU) fuel, similar to conventional CANDU (CANada Deuterium Uranium) reactor of small and large sizes are operated successfully worldwide. Various nations have their nuclear program based on a closed fuel cycle. Therefore it is important to know the exact concentration, decay heat, radio-toxicity and radioactivity of all isotopes produced over the fuel cycle. To this end, a computer code is being developed with advanced capabilities on MATLAB-14 platform using Klopfenstien-Shampine family of Numerical Differentiation Formula (KS family of NDFs). In this paper, efforts are taken to highlight on the develop of an indigenous computer code IGDC: Isotopic Generation and Depletion Code” to perform the fuel cycle studies for fuel irradiated in 220\u202fMWe class PT-HWRs.
