Delayed Gastric Emptying and Symptom Variation
Abstract
Abstract Background Gastroparesis, also known as stomach paralysis, is a motility disorder that has become a rising concern. Aim The aim of this study was to determine whether symptoms vary based on gastric emptying times. Methods Data were abstracted from a gastroparesis data registry and separated into severity groups and symptoms. Results Fatigue was rated in the top 3 as most severe for all levels of delayed emptying. Correlations were also found among symptoms, weight loss, and body mass index. Conclusion Symptoms vary based on emptying times. Further research is needed to better understand fatigue and gastroparesis.
