Some Studies on Performability Analysis of Safety Critical Systems
Abstract
Abstract The efficient management of the performance and reliability factors of safety critical systems (SCSs) may optimize system’s performability and hence improve the quality of the SCSs. A review work is done on performability analysis of safety critical systems. The primary aim of the study is to investigates the existing approaches of performability evaluation of SCSs and find out the strengths and limitations of the performability approaches. Different performability parameters are examined and various critical challenges are pointed out. It is also important to know that how the researchers defined the term “performability” in the literature. Several review work visible in the literature deals with performance and reliability issues separately. In this work, an attempt has been made to understand the comprehensive picture of performance and reliability factors in a combined manner. The given review is the most contemporary as it includes studies published from 2011 to 2019. Some earlier studies are also included based on their relevance. Identifying the different scenarios of performability and purposeful classification of performability parameters are the major achievement of the review. The obtained results will enable academicians and novice researchers to make effective decision on performability of SCSs.
