Are we losing touch with our world?

 

Abstract


Summary Neuroscience is only beginning to understand how a pleasant touch like a caress becomes a rewarding sensation. Although touch is clearly important for human well-being, communication and cognition, there are current trends that lead to the risk of losing the tactile connection with others as well as with nature and objects.
