Chiral imide-bonded porphyrin-perylene-porphyrin hybrids: The obvious extension of optical response in the visible region

 
 
 
 
 

Abstract


Abstract A series of four chiral, diimide-bonded Zn(II)porphyrin-perylene-Zn(II)porphyrin hybrids and the four free-base derivatives H2Porphyrin-perylene-H2Porphyrin hybrids were prepared, determined and characterized by various spectroscopies including circular dichroism (cd) spectra. A detailed analysis of the optical and redox properties was carried out by comparing the results obtained via optical spectroscopy and electrochemistry. Interestingly, these chiral perylene-porphyrin hybrids have significant expansion in both UV–vis absorption, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectra, especially in the visible-region.
