Borderline ovarian mucinous tumor with anaplastic carcinomatous mural nodule: A case report
Abstract
Highlights • Malignant mural nodules in borderline ovarian tumors are rare and anaplastic mural nodules are still infrequent.• These aggressive tumors portend poor prognosis and carries high morbidity/mortality.• Stage ≥1C patients survive badly. Albeit, histological pattern of anaplastic nodules and stage/prognosis are not related.• Our patient, a postmenopausal lady had borderline ovarian mucinous tumor with an anaplastic carcinomatous mural nodule.• After comprehensive staging laparotomy and 6cycles of paclitaxel–carboplatin, she is clinically well at 8 m of follow up.
