DEVELOPMENT OF A DYADIC SLEEP INTERVENTION FOR PERSONS WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AND THEIR CAREGIVERS
Abstract
was available for 123 subjects (mean age1⁄4 73.6 years, 76% female). The average follow up was 7.8 years and mean SP was 37.3 (R: 10 – 57). Although higher SP was associated with better performance in language-based executive function, none of the SP*time interactions were significant, suggesting that baseline SP does not modify cognitive decline. Conclusions: Baseline social participation scores among a cohort of African American adults is not significantly associated with a change in delayed semantic, verbal fluency, or MMSE scores over time. An explanation for these findings include whether our SP measurements are capturing social engagement in this cohort. Further studies need to investigate how social participation affects brain health beyond what verbal fluency and delayed memory can capture among this minority group.
