Reply to “Integral management of COVID-19 in Madrid: Turning things around during the second wave”

Abstract

In spite of the soft measures “ a la Barrington” taken by the regional government [4], economic performance is not better than in many other Spanish regions. The authors argue that in 2nd Q growth was substantial in Madrid. But they fail to reveal that according to AIREF it fell behind the mean for Spain (16,4%), with 9 regions growing faster. The year-on-year decline in Madrid in the 3rd Q was 8.1 (the authors forget the minus sign); only slightly above the mean for Spain: 9.0%.
