AlCoCrFeNiTi-C alloy with TiC nano precipitates processed through mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering
Abstract
Abstract AlCoCrFeNiTi-C High Entropy Alloy (HEA) develops a single BCC phase after 10 hrs of milling. Sintering at 1000 °C promotes the formation of NiAl rich B2, CrFe disordered BCC and TiC phases making the alloy a dual phase structure with TiC precipitates. Alloy also exhibits a good room temperature compressive strength of 2503 ± 8 MPa and hardness of 910 ± HV0.5 which can be attributed to the presence of nano sized TiC.
