Abstract

Abstract Aluminum alloys have their unique quality like high strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance predicted to used in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, railways, etc. Welding strength on aluminium alloy has been always puzzling by using conventional techniques. In this research, the frictions stir welding technique is used to weld a similar grade of aluminum alloy AA 8011 having a cross-section of 100\xa0×\xa050\xa0×\xa05\xa0mm thick. These metals are welded under a variation of three control parameters and the remaining parameters are fixed. The three control parameters each are two levels that have been designed their combination for the experiment. As per the experiment, design workpieces are passed through FSW process and prepared specimen according to ASTM E8 specification. The specimen was tested for strength properties such as tensile strength and Charpy Test respectively. The result of tensile strength and Charpy impact strength compared and discussed.
