Abstract

Abstract The reduction of transient stored beam perturbations generated by top-up injection into storage rings has since long been a topic of intense research and development in the synchrotron radiation community. The issue is particularly relevant to present and future fourth-generation storage rings, for which beam stability is a crucial performance parameter. In this paper, we report on the design and commissioning of a novel multipole injection kicker (MIK) that has successfully demonstrated high injection efficiency as well as outstanding transparency, with levels of residual disturbances to the stored beam well below the beam size in both the horizontal and vertical planes.
