Visible-light-mediated radical addition/cyclization tandem reaction for the synthesis of 3-bromomethyl-3,4-dihydroisocoumarins
Abstract
Abstract A visible-light-mediated radical addition/cyclization tandem reaction for the synthesis of 3-bromomethyl-3,4-dihydroisocoumarins from 2-allylbenzaldehydes and diethyl 2,2-dibromomalonate is described. In this reaction, the bromine radical is generated from diethyl 2,2-dibromomalonate via energy transfer (EnT). This reaction uses O2 in the air as the oxygen source, and uses visible-light to provide energy. Therefore, this procedure is not only environmentally friendly, but also efficient.
