BiOCl:Er3+ Nanosheets with Tunable Thickness for Photon Avalanche Phosphors
Abstract
Efficient high-order up/down-conversion photon avalanche (PA) luminescence of Er3+ ions were observed from hydrothermal synthesized Er3+-doped BiOCl nanosheets excited at 980 nm. Accompanying with declining threshold power, the significant enhancement of emission intensity and cycle numbers of PA luminescence were achieved simultaneously by decreasing the thickness of nanosheets. Compared experiments indicated that the modification of PA process is mainly correlated to the scale-dependent internal electric fields (IEF) as well as the multi-photon band transition of BiOCl nanosheets. The results of this work pave a way to renew the construction conditions for the rare earth (RE) doped PA nano-phosphors.
