Facile synthesis of pyronin-9-thione via a trisulfur radical anion mechanism

Abstract

A new synthetic methodology to obtain pyronin-9-thione is established. This is the first case of a trisulfur radical anion being involved in C\ue001S formation disclosed by both experimental and theoretical investigations.
