QGO enhanced PET fibre for multi-applications

Abstract

Graphene oxide (GO) is grafted to chloropropyl trimethoxysilane, then it is grafted from N\n, N\n-dimethyldodecylamine to prepare a quaternised GO (QGO). The QGO is introduced to polyester (PET) fibre surface by immersion method. The results show that the QGO possesses good dispersibility, antibacterial activity and durability, the antibacterial rate of QGO-modified PET fibre against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia Coli and Bacillus subtilis are 99.5, 99.5 and 99.8%, respectively. In addition, the QGO-modified PET fibre shows a good chemical stability and corrosive resistance. It is convenient for preparing wearable textiles.
