A new approach of temperature and humidity alert system at composite panel manufacturing area
Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) system proposed in this paper is an advanced solution for monitoring the temperature and humidity in the lay-up production line at Company A, a composite panel manufacturing company for aircraft wing components. The temperature and humidity data is visible over internet through cloud based platform and sending alert messages when the temperature and humidity is out of the control range. The Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) based monitoring and alert system consists of DHT11 sensor to detect the temperature and humidity, and NodeMCU WiFi module to send data into the ThingSpeak IoT platform. The data will be displayed on LCD screen and GSM module will send alert messages to the engineer or person in charge. The buzzer and LED will be triggered automatically when the humidity or temperature is out of the control range. The main objective of this project is to design an automatic temperature and humidity alert system at the lay-up production line by using Arduino IDE so that it could help to improve the current alert system used at the company. This automatic temperature and humidity alert system has been located in the lay-up production line at Company A and the data collected by this system has been validated with the data collected by the existing Honeywell Circular Chart temperature and humidity recorder which currently used by the company. As a result, the data collected by the automatic temperature and humidity alert system is reliable since it matches the data recorded by the Honeywell recorder. Finally, this IoT approach could improve the alert system at lay-up production line hence indirectly improve the composite panel quality. The Internet of Things (IoT) system proposed in this paper is an advanced solution for monitoring the temperature and humidity in the lay-up production line at Company A, a composite panel manufacturing company for aircraft wing components.
