Dynamic analysis of biomedical signals in phase space using the Poincaré plot

Abstract

The method of phase space reconstruction by the time characteristics of biomedical signals is described. It is shown that the Poincare plot contains useful information related to the presence of nonlinear components in the process under study. The method of analyzing a sequence of ECG cardiocycles is proposed in order to diagnose several types of arrhythmias. During experiments on a sample of real ECG signals, it was established, that the Poincare mapping allows one to obtain additional information on the dynamics of the behavior of the time series and, due to this, it is more efficient to solve the problems of classifying states in health and pathology. The method of phase space reconstruction by the time characteristics of biomedical signals is described.
