Wing box topology optimization of tourist class reusable space vehicle

 
 

Abstract


In the development of reusable space vehicle, one of the paramount goals is to achieve a minimum weight, reliable and robust design with required level of strength and stiffness. Due to these new optimization methods rapidly develop and make possible achievement the appropriate structural performance. This paper presents an optimization approach to the design of the wing box made of composite materials via the use of topology optimization. Firstly, the arrangement and number of load-carrying elements were determined by using the solid isotropic material with penalization model. Further the optimal layout of the composite wing box components was obtained. Finally, the validation of the topology optimization results was conducted that shown the effectiveness of approach.
