Strength and conductivity of Cu-Ni-Si based alloy

Abstract

The present work is directed towards development of Cu-Ni-Si based alloy for high strength and high conductivity applications. The work consists of the alloy development and their secondary processing (casting, homogenisation, forging, rolling and ageing treatment) to achieve the defined goals of strength and conductivity. The results show that the alloy composition, percentage rolling and ageing temperature do affect the properties tremendously. The highest ultimate tensile strength achieved in the present work is 830\u2005MPa while the electrical conductivity is 31 %IACS.
