Simulation of two-dimensional streamer in application to cold atmospheric plasma jet generation

 
 

Abstract


Plasma devices generating the cold atmospheric plasma jet is used in different applications, for example, in medicine. Instead of the conventional plasma devices with axial symmetry, the devices with linear extended electrode and planar geometry of plasma jet are more convenient. The propagation of two-dimensional streamer in such device is studied by simulations in 2D fluid discharge model. The existence of streamer with planar geometry is shown. In comparison with axially symmetric plasma device, the head of planar streamer has a plate shape instead of toroidal, also the plane ionization wave propagates with considerably larger velocity.
