A novel passive micromixer with array of Koch fractal obstacles in microchannel
Abstract
Abstract Passive micromixers are important microdevices in the field of microfluidics. It is necessary to increase the mixing efficiency of the micromixer. In this paper, six micromixer models with co-lateral and different side Koch fractal obstacles are designed based on COMSOL5.2a. This paper studies the effects of Koch fractal obstacles on mixing performance and mixing mechanism. The results show that the Koch fractal obstacle enhances the chaotic convection of the fluid in the microchannel and improves the mixing efficiency. In addition, when Re = 0.1, when the Koch obstacle is located on the same side of the microchannel, the larger the number of Koch fractals, the higher the mixing efficiency, and the mixing efficiency reaches 98.2%. The Koch Obstacle Micromixer has better mixing performance on different sides than other micromixers. The research work in this paper provides a novel design and theoretical basis for the design of micromixers. Graphical Abstract
