Macau residents’ attitude towards the free independent travellers (FIT) policy: an analysis from the perspective of the ABC model and group comparison
Abstract
ABSTRACT This study analyses the formation mechanism of residents support intentions using the affect, behaviour, and cognition (ABC) model of attitudes and structural equation modelling. The findings indicate that residents satisfaction with tourism development is primarily motivated by favourable perceptions. Negative perceptions such as perceived social cost and perceived economic cost have no significant influence on residents satisfaction, whereas satisfaction has a significant influence on their support intentions. The results of the multi-group analysis indicate that there are significant differences in the characteristics of different resident groups in terms of support formation.
