More Than Letters: Nadine Chahine on Her Typographic Practice
Abstract
Abstract Graphic designer Nadine Chahine discusses the aesthetic and political motivations behind her work on Arabic typefaces. A dearth of Arabic typefaces available for graphic designers’ use prior to 2000 drive the recent design of fonts that would embody socio-political ideas across the Arab world and foster a sense of identity, allowing a wider range of viewpoints to be expressed through typeface.
