The evaluation of the CSR activities from the Hungarian hotel managers’ point of view
Abstract
ABSTRACT Over the last few decades corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become an important issue. Increasing pressure from the stakeholders has forced tourism companies to adopt different environmental and social practices into their operation beyond their economic interests and legal requirements, on a voluntary basis. The purpose of this study is to analyse the importance of the CSR activities in different types of hotels from the Hungarian hotel managers’ point of view. A total of 61 hotel managers participated in this study. Based on the results, CSR activities related to the hotel guests are the most important initiatives in the Hungarian four- and five-star hotels. Hotel executives reported that customer satisfaction, cost savings and branding-related outcomes were the main reasons for CSR implementation.
