A Multi-objective Optimization for Simultaneous Determination of Spare Part Numbers and Imperfect Preventive Maintenance

 
 
 

Abstract


Preventive maintenance (PM) has played an increasingly important role in manufacturing. Many PM strategies have been proposed to determine optimal decisions with the assumption of perfect PM, which is seldom happened in reality. Besides, a great many studies have mainly considered single-objective optimizations instead of multi-objective issues. In this paper, we propose a model simultaneously determining spare part numbers and imperfect PM intervals based on multi-attribute utility theory (MAUT), one of the multi-objective decision making theories. Reliability, cost, and supply risk are seen as three main conflicting attributes. A numerical application is illustrated based on the data gathered from a steel firm. Sensitivity analysis is carried out to show the impact of parameters. The conclusion is shown that the model consists of facts.
