Experimental Testing of Anti-Corrosive Ferrosilicon Treatments for Dense Medium Separation of Diamond-Bearing Raw Materials
Abstract
Experimental studies have shown that electrochemical effects and inert nitrogen gas used for mixing ferrosilicon instead of air, which contains a strong oxidant—oxygen—are indeed effective methods for reducing the corrosive effects of an aqueous medium on ferrosilicon pellets. This research determined how effective nitrogen application to the ferrosilicon pellet surface was in protecting them from corrosion as they interfaced with water systems in the process of dense medium separation.
