Ureteral Identification in Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery.

Abstract

1. Patient preparation: Patient preparation for robotic low anterior resection on an enhanced recovery pathway at our institution includes carbohydrate loading, immunonutrition, mechanical and antibiotic bowel preparation administered the day before surgery, and multimodal pain control. 2. Patient position: The patient is in modified lithotomy, arms tucked, Trendelenberg with slight left side up, and robotic platform off patient left side. 3. Critical steps: Standardized technique is required for robotic low anterior resection, including where ureter is identified.
