Capacity Evaluation Method for Integrated Electric Vehicles Considering Operational Constraints
Abstract
With the mushroom growth of electric vehicles (EVs), a large number of EV charging stations have been established. Regarded as a charging load, the access of EVs posts challenges to the balance of supply and demand with safe operational constraints in distribution networks. This paper proposes a capacity evaluation method to capture the feasible region of EV charging stations, which can guide for the choice of charging station, without threatening to distribution networks. Considering the coupling effect of charging stations, a set of objective functions related to the charging capacity of every EV charging station is constructed. The objective functions can approximate the feasible region of the charging station subjected to the operational constraints, including power balance equations, transmission capacity limits, generation capacity limits, and voltage limits. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by test results on the IEEE 33-bus system.
