Variable DC-Bus Voltage Control for the Non-salient Pole PMSM applied to the Flywheel Energy Storage System

Abstract

In this paper, a variable DC-bus voltage control is proposed for the flywheel energy storage system of non-salient pole PMSM (Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Machine). Compared with the MTPA (Maximum Torque per Ampere) control and the field weakening control, variable DC-bus voltage control is not easily disturbed by the parameters of the PMSM. The circuit consists of three-phase half-bridge circuit and half bridge circuit. The three-phase half-bridge circuit converts alternating current to direct current. The half bridge circuit depressurizes the bus voltage to the voltage required by the DC side. The variable DC-bus voltage control can be used alone in the speed-up process, and it can also be used together with the field weakening control. In this paper, the model predictive control is used, and the field weakening control is combined with the variable DC-bus voltage control. Finally, the effect of the variable DC-bus voltage control is verified by simulation results.
