A new hybrid YO-NIE model for nonlinear inverse scattering problems

Abstract

In this contribution, we focus on the possibility to reduce the degree of nonlinearity in inverse scattering problems by means of convenient rewritings of the Lippman Schwinger basic equation. In detail, two recently introduced rewritings are briefly reviewed and compared by emphasizing similarities and the differences. The first one, known as NIE model, is derived by extracting a local effect of the induced currents, while the second more recent one is based on the redefinition of the internal radiation operator and is known as Y0 model. Then, an effective joint exploitation of the ideas underlying the two models is discussed.
