The Design of S band Low Sidelobe Rectangular Waveguide Slot Phased Array Antenna

Abstract

The S band low sidelobe rectangular waveguide slot phased array antenna was designed in this paper. First, the conductance value and resonance length of the slots were obtained by equal slant angle slots arrays tested, then the conductance values and the resonant lengths of the remaining slots were obtained by curve fitting. By method of staggered arrangement slots of adjacent waveguides, the cross polarization was effectively restrained. Based on this, a set of phased arrays antenna had been developed. The arrays had 32 rectangular waveguides with different slant slots in each rectangular waveguide. The array antenna had been tested to have broadband characteristics, more than 18% of bandwidth and low side-lobe. The cross polarization was effectively restrained in the vertical plane. Based on these good properties, the antenna can be widely used in military and civilian radar products, and it is bound to have a broad application prospect.
