A Readout Circuit of Microchannel Plate Light Detector in 0.13um CMOS Technology
Abstract
The detector is an important part of a rangefinder system. Compared with XDL and ICCD, MCP (Microchannel Plate) is better in various performances and is getting more and more attention. The microchannel plate has a response time of several tens of picoseconds, a spatial resolution of several micrometers, and low power consumption. It is an area array photoelectric conversion device capable of detecting the weakest optical signal. It is an inevitable way to directly integrate MCP with high performance area array readout integrated circuit chip. In this paper, an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) for MCP single photon detection is proposed. The readout circuit, consisting of 8x8-pixel array has been designed and implemented in a 0.13μm,1.2V, CMOS technology, with an area of 4300 μmx3800μm. After post simulation verification, time detection accuracy of the system can reach 50ps, the distance precision can reach 15mm, and the dead time is 7ns, which has wide application value.
