Isolated Boost Converter with High Efficiency and Wide Input/Output Voltage Range for Space Electric Propulsion System Applications

 
 
 
 

Abstract


A novel isolated boost converter with high efficiency and wide input/output voltage range is proposed in this paper. The novel current-fed flyback full-bridge boost topology and principle of the converter are described in detail. Design on the wide input/output voltage range and lossless snubber circuit are also analyzed. Additionally, the test on the converter prototype shows that the converter can achieve the function of boost power conversion within the input voltage range of 60V~110V, output voltage range of 300V~500V and output current range of 0-3A; the maximum efficiency could reach to 96.9%, and the lossless snubber circuit can reduce switching peak voltage with the maximum DS voltage spike of 118V, in agreement with the expected design.
