Abstract

A study on implementation of Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system on Through the Wall (TWR) radar basically dedicates for improving the detection capabilities. Experimental studies with a modeling of MIMO Radar systems are needed in investigating the increase of the radar detection capabilities. The experimental modeling of MIMO radar system provides a more actual overview in the early stages of developing a radar MIMO system. In this paper, modeling of MIMO TWR radar system by using VNA and its experimental were performed to investigate the detection capability improvement. Experimental modeling of MIMO TWR systems by using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) has flexibility in adjusting the configuration of the radar system that will be tested. Experimental studies are conducted using 2×2 MIMO UWB antenna. The results of experiments in the form of B-Scan Image showed that the application of the MIMO system in TWR provides enhanced target detection capabilities compared to the Single Input Single Output (SISO) TWR method.
