Abstract

This paper presents three-phase unbalanced radial distribution system modeling and simulation. The modeling of three-phase unbalanced distribution system is a big challenge because of its high R/X ratio and complexity of calculations. The systems are unbalanced because of unsymmetrical line segment data or due to single phase, two phase or three phase loads. Therefore, the unbalanced system modeling becomes cumbersome. Our designed model has been developed in MATLAB/Simulink. Load flow analysis for the designed model has been done using Simulink powergui tool which uses Newton Raphson method. The results show an efficient, fast and reliable modeling for three-phase unbalanced radial distribution system.
